Getting Around
Water taxis are the primary mode of transport on the island. Let us know your destination, and we can arrange a boat for you or provide you with a list of captains' phone numbers. Taxis can also be hailed from our dock. Always inquire about fares beforehand, as prices may vary. When in town, specify that you need to go to Isla Bastimentos and to Punta Rica. Prices to and from Bocas town are $5 per person, while those to Old Bank are $3 per person.
Age Restriction
We are an adults-only property due to the absence of child-friendly accommodations.
Food & Drink
Our dining experience at Punta Rica is a highlight, featuring dishes made from locally sourced produce, fish, and meats. Our menu changes daily to offer guests the freshest ingredients in creative dishes. All accommodations include a daily cooked-to-order breakfast served from 8:00-10:00, featuring coffee/tea, fruit salad, and a refreshing smoothie of the day.
We proudly offer a 3-course dinner five nights a week, with other dining options available in Bocas town or on Bastimentos Island. Vegetarian and vegan options are available; please inform us of any food allergies or restrictions when making your reservation.
Guests can also enjoy our pool menu (served from 12:00-3:00), offering appetizers and light lunch fare. Our full bar serves a variety of cocktails, and we have an Honor Bar with beverages and snacks available 24/7.
Please note that guest kitchens are not available, and bringing outside food may attract insects to your room.
Money & Payment
Cash is the preferred payment method in most places in Bocas, with the local currency being US dollars. An ATM is available at the bank in Bocas town. A 50% deposit is required for all reservations, payable in cash at check-in to avoid a 5% credit card fee. Visa and MasterCard are accepted with a 5% fee.
Water & Electricity
Punta Rica is powered by solar energy and rainwater. We offer unlimited refills of UV-purified rainwater for drinking. Each room has USB outlets and 110v outlets. Hot water is available in the showers, and our water undergoes a 3-stage filtration process, including carbon and UV, making it safe to drink from the tap.
Pet Policy
Due to the open concept of Punta Rica, we are not set up for pets.
What to Bring
We recommend bringing easy-to-carry backpack-type luggage, a reusable water bottle, a lightweight rain jacket, quick-dry clothes, hiking shoes, a flashlight, a waterproof case for your phone/camera, bug spray/reef-safe sunscreen, and a good book.
Insects & Wildlife
While bugs are present due to our jungle location, preventive measures are in place, and mosquito nets are not necessary. Scorpions, snakes, and other wildlife are rare and hard to find.
Atmosphere & Ambience
At Punta Rica, we embrace diversity, welcoming guests from all walks of life. During the day, guests can relax by the pool, explore the island, or enjoy complimentary water equipment. Evenings are for socializing over pre-dinner cocktails and dinner in the Great Room. Guests can also explore Bocas town for dining and nightlife options.
Late/Early Flights
We can arrange late evening check-ins or early morning departures with advance notice.
